The brief
Planting used to give a long, low, blank elevation some structure — a specimen tree to break the roofline and clipped mass planting to hold the base of the building.
The site
A wide open frontage with nothing to stop the eye. Bed lines were cut to give the lawn a shape, and the planting was massed rather than spotted so it reads from the road.
What we built
- Weeping specimen tree set as the focal point
- Massed clipped boxwood holding the building line
- Azalea, rhododendron and ornamental grasses in the mid-border
- Stone-edged island bed
- Bed lines cut and mulched, lawn renovated
