The brief
A modest rear patio off a back door, built with the drainage problem solved at the same time rather than after the fact.
The site
The ground fell toward the house along the rear elevation. The patio was set with pitch away from the foundation and a washed-stone margin run along the house line to take roof discharge and move it off.
What we built
- Paver patio with a charcoal soldier-course border on all open sides
- Washed-stone drainage margin along the foundation, over filter fabric
- Terrace pitched away from the house
- Stone-edged transition to lawn
