Covered Outdoor Kitchen & Stone Fireplace
The brief
A large rear terrace resolved as one composition: a covered kitchen pavilion at one end, a masonry fireplace at the other, and a single continuous paving field tying them together across a sloping back yard.
The site
The lot falls away steeply into woods behind the house. The terrace elevation had to be established first and held, with the drop beyond it managed by stone seat walls and planted banks rather than a hard step. Access for materials was down one side of the house.
What we built
- Large-format porcelain paver terrace with a contrasting bronze border and inset bands at the piers
- Masonry kitchen bar clad in natural stone veneer with a granite counter and built-in grill
- Open-gable pavilion carried on stone-clad piers, ceiling boarded and finished
- Natural stone fireplace with an arched firebox, stone chimney and flanking wood-storage arches
- Curved stone seat walls with full-thickness caps retaining the planted bank behind
- Gas and electrical rough-in run before the terrace field closed over it
